How often do you think about the health of your body in terms of specifics? Breast thermography centers will have more information, should you be interested in doing a screening, but here are the basics of how it works: thermography, or thermal imaging, measures temperature. Increased vascular circulation and metabolic activity in the tissue will be recorded, and can then be monitored. This means that a tumor that is just beginning to form can be caught before it even becomes large enough for you to feel. That doesn't mean that you can put all other screening methods aside, however. The very best thing you could do would be to use breast thermography alongside regular self exams and mammography after the age of 35.

If you visit a center for breast thermography, California or North Carolina, the procedure will be much the same. You will, as in any doctor's office, fill out paperwork. You will then go into the examination room and spend approximately ten minutes or so letting your body acclimate to the temperature of the room. This is a very important part of the process, as the machine is extremely sensitive to temperature. Then, the scan takes place, which involves little more than your standing still in front of the machine. It is a simple and easy, and best of all, requires no contact to be made without body, something that makes for a very comfortable visit.
