Since it has become known and dominant among the human civilization, cancer has kept researchers and bureaucrats the world over, busy in finding ways to contain and condemn it. The developments that have been made in this area are not very encouraging on their face except for the fact that all odd kinds of therapies have been devised and pigged in. The greatest achievement however, has been the very diagnosis of the disease. And the core torches that have been instrumental in all the laboratory processes involved are antibodies of different classes. The most pronounced classes have been the glycoprotein class including antibodies like CD133, the Protease Activated Receptors or the PAR class, housing the PAR 1 and PAR 2 antibodies and the Bromodeoxyuridine class, BRDU that has other purposes than just playing an assistant in cancer pathology. We would dedicate a brief area of this page to each of these antibodies in this article.

CD133 is a glycoprotein, more appropriately, a member of the pentaspan transmembrane glycoprotein class. It is known to be an important chemical member of the stem cells, instrumental in the ...
... proliferation of stem cells into any other kind of cell. Thus, the importance of CD133 in cancer related research. These antibodies are the reason why tumor stem cells can proliferate and multiply into other tumor cells with an exact resemblance to the parent one. Conventionally, cells of the stem cell rich area like placenta, bone marrow and kidneys contain a considerable amount of these antibodies and can be used as subjects for CD133 research. Based on the developments so far, anti CD163 antibody has also been produced and is used in the detection of the presence of C133 samples in the sample tissue.

The class Protease Activated Receptors are another cancer-specific research material used widely in laboratories. Abbreviated as PAR, and housing sub-constituents like PAR1 and PAR2, these antibodies have seen a quick development as far as their research and utilization are considered. As the name suggests, these are basically receptors, receiving thrombin in order to further the processes of cell proliferation, migration and metastasis. Presence of PAR2 cells also enhances the chemokinesis of prostate cancer cells. Since mobility is an indispensable process during the conversion of a tumor to the malignant stage. Par2 antibody has been a huge breakthrough in cancer research and cure.

The third class of Bromodeoxyuridine or BRDU is instrumental in the decipheration of immunohistochemistry or the study of immunity in chemical reactions going on in muscle tissues. In case of any hint that cells are multiplying unnaturally, as is the case in most malignant tumor issues, BRDU can be incorporated in a denatured DNA helix in the place of Thymidine and then the cells can be allowed to multiply. The entire process of the how the cells are reacting can be made out by using anti - BRDU antibodies. Thus, BRDU is more of a detection agent rather than being a curing formula for cancer.
