The Toyota Aygo – Great Choice With Conventional Styling
The Toyota Aygo was made in collaboration with the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1. It has the same well balanced styling and is user friendly. The controls are made from a light material and the three cylinder Aygo engine has some tremendously low running costs. It sounds good too. Most cars of this size fail to deliver in the practicality aspect and Aygo is the same. Refinement at motorway speeds is also missing.
Toyota Aygo has been designed in a wheel at each corner design which makes it decently proportioned and trendy. Aygo received a face lift in 2012 adding sharper headlights and some LED daytime running lights to keep it looking fresh. The heater controls are unusual with a user-friendly stereo and funky speedometer, the interior design feels fresh and attractive. MP3 players can be plugged into the stereo and the transparent section glows orange at night. The Toyota Aygo is only produced with one engine; a 1.0 litre three cylinder engine producing 68bhp. The engine is full of character and it revs all the way up to the red line. All the controls are ...
... user friendly along with the clutch and the precise gearbox.
It sprints from 0-62mph in 14.2 seconds which is fine for town driving but at higher speeds the Aygo starts struggling. Driving in an Aygo at motorway speeds is a bit of nuisance as the wind, air and road noises creep in to the cabin. The flexible ride means you'll at least be comfortable The Aygo was awarded four stars by the experts at Euro NCAP crash testing. This is certainly not bad for a small city car. However, you can find similar cars with a full five star rating. Aygo has been made by Toyota that means it is a very reliable car and no major issues have been reported since its launch in 2005.
The Aygo’s major weakness is its boot space. To keep the costs low, the tailgate is made from glass. The boot capacity is just 139 litres even though all models have seats which can fold. The space for rear passengers is adequate but it is not more than a four seater. The driving position is decent, and cabin feels spacious. Aygo’s major strong point is its ultra-low insurance and running costs. Its fuel efficiency will definitely save you money at gas stations. The 2012 facelift gave it sub zero CO2 emission figure of 99g/km making it road tax free. The fuel economy now stands at 65.6mpg.
