France And Germany Holidays: The Best Of Europe
Travellers often speak of “backpacking” across the world, and Europe is almost everyone’s primary location. Two of the best experiences that one can bring together while in Europe are a France holiday and a Germany tour.
Country-hopping
Travellers often speak of “backpacking” across the world, and Europe is almost everyone’s primary location. Europe is conducive to such a journey; it even welcomes it, seeing as one requires just one visa to be eligible to travel to anywhere in the continent. Two of the best experiences that one can bring together while in Europe are a France holiday and a Germany tour.
France
Considered the art capital of the world, France is unmatched in its avant-garde understanding of art, and the pioneering works that its artists produce. Its capital, Paris, houses the Louvre, the world’s most-visited museum and one of the most romantic spots in the world, the Eiffel Tower. Both of these are must-visit locations on a France holiday!
Apart from this, France has a long and interesting history. Under the absolute monarchy of Louis XVI, forward thinking ...
... and free speech were unacceptable, with most civil rights being blatantly suppressed. It was then that France, as a nation, realised that it had to stand up to any man or institution that would impede their identity, and this national subconscious led to the Bastille Revolution, whence the French Republic was born. It is this history that shapes the modern French psyche and puts them in the forefront of the thinking world. Rest assured, you shall get plenty of food for thought on a France holiday.
Germany
You can journey next to Germany. Every Germany tour should start from its capital city of Berlin. If there ever has been a national symbol for Germany, it has to be Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, which was built in 1791 as a symbol of peace. When Germany was divided through the centre of Berlin, Brandenburg Gate stood on the line between east and west.
If you’re looking to take a deep look into German culture, then the city of Weimar is definitely the place to go. This city has housed some of the best German minds from all different walks of life, including Johan Sebastian Bach, Friedrich Nietzsche and Wassily Kandinsky.
No Germany tour is complete without losing yourself in the endless landscapes that constitute the world-famous Black Forest. This mass of rolling hills and lush grass spreads over 4,600 miles, and continues on to the Swiss border.
