There are various national and international medical examinations that are held annually which if are qualified can prove to be the marking stone of a medical science aspirant. Here we will be discussing two such medical entrance examinations namely BMAT (Biomedical Admission Test) and the UKCAT (UK clinical aptitude test).

... Test is an aptitude test conducted by the state of UK and Singapore for the admissions into medicine, veterinary and bio medical science courses. This medical aptitude examination was previously used by the Oxford University, University of Cambridge and the University College London for admission into their medical courses. It is recently been taken up by the universities of Singapore and UK for the entrance into their medical courses.

This admission test is usually held at the beginning of the month of November and is scored on a scale where score of 5 means the average score and the score of 6 is regarded as the competitive score. The question paper of the exam consist of three sections first the multiple choice and short answer type section which is designed to check the clinical aptitude and logical thinking of the aspirants. The second section comprises of questions related to the scientific knowledge and the application capabilities of the candidate. Lastly the third section is a descriptive and debater section making in which there is choice of topic selection.

The validity and the usage of the scores of the BMAT are made in different ways by different universities. Some combine the score of BMAT with other examination scores to decide on the candidates who will be called for the interview.

The UKCAT
This aptitude examination is relatively new as compared to all the other existing entrance examinations which are conducted for the masters around the globe. Developed in 2006 by the UKCAT Consortium along with the Pearson VUE is conducted in the test mode for time being. It is a valid test score for seeking admissions into all the medical schools and universities across the United Kingdom.

In contradict to the rest of the entrance examination; this test put more emphasis on getting the details of the mental abilities, attitudes and the professional behavior. The examination paper of the UKCAT consists of four sections verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, abstract reasoning and decision analysis. The applicability of the UKCAT has been taken by many universities around the world but there are some universities that do not accept the scores of UK CAT. Student taking this aptitude should bear in mind which are the universities validating the scores of this test.
