Luckily maintaining a hot tub is not complicated, a five year old could do it. However, because it involves chemicals it is important that an adult actually carry out the maintenance. You need to get the ph balance right; once you have, you need to use bromine tablets, spa shock, ph increaser and ph decreaser to keep the water right. Most of the time all you have to remember to do is to add bromine tablets to your hot tub once a week. If you use it a lot you may need to increase the frequency. Periodically you should test the PH and adjust it accordingly using the PH increaser or decreaser.

About once a year, you will need to get rid of any scale. Hot tub maintenance need not take any more than 30 minutes each week. You also need to clean the filter periodically.
