Not only in IT field, but technological innovations are taking place almost everywhere. The same is true for light industry too. There are several bulb and tube lights manufacturers in India. There are many lamp component manufacturers in all parts of the country; specifically in Punjab region. Some of these component manufacturers have installed state of the art technological solutions to cater demand of global light industry. These products cost comparatively lower in India than that in any developed country. The prime reason for this cost difference is the availability of cheaper workforce in India. However, only cost is not the prime factor why these lighting components are being outsourced from India but technological excellence is also a reason behind this growing popularity of Indian lamp component manufacturers.

As the energy crisis is threatening the world with possibility of a dark future, the demand of innovative energy-saver lamps has grown manifold. People are happily paying higher cost for durable and energy efficient bulbs today. This has made it imperative for the bulb manufacturers to adopt advanced technique in the production of their products to ensure true energy efficient products. Sometimes, therefore, outsourcing light components from an external manufacturer might create doubt about the quality of product. The question is why a large organization such as GE, Philips, Crompton, or other should ever outsource components from other manufacturers instead of producing them in-house. The answer to this question is very simple though.

These are all multinational organizations which are doing business in almost every part of the world. But, it is neither feasible nor easy for them to install a manufacturing unit in every part of the world. It involves a lot of cost which cannot be invested until certain level of market is developed. Besides these organizations cannot either afford to produce products in the country of their origin and supply to all over the world. It will increase the cost of their products manifold with which they cannot compete in the market. Therefore these organizations try to outsource components from different manufacturers, and then assemble them in their own assembling units. They test quality of each and every product before assembling them into a complete light. This helps them compete in the market in terms of both cost and quality.
