You Were Obviously Wrong About Surviving Depression
Medically, depression is classified under psychology. Stated simply, it is a mental illness that causes you to just be sad. And when you try to find out, you are never able to put your finger on it. But don't let anything get you down. Always do all you can to reverse any depressive feeling you have. I know it might seem difficult at first, but if you try it all the time, you will soon be a master at it.
Depression might not be much of a big deal for some, especially when you consider that every person experiences it from time to time. The problem with depression is that it might hang on to you in the most unpleasant of ways. Soon enough, you might not want to associate with a lot of people around you, or worse still, you might feel like hurting someone. That is when it really is a problem. But like I always advice - don't let it control you. Instead, YOU should control it!
People suffer from depression all the time; there is nothing wrong with that. The problem begins when they stay that way for too long. Before they are quite aware of it, they could have done things to themselves or others that they will not ...
... be too pleased with. For such reasons, no one ought to stay depressed for too long.
Dysthymia is a kind of depression in which when you feel depressed, you also get a sense of low self-esteem. In addition you are unable to concentrate most of the time, and there are times when this stays with you for a period of years. Thankfully, this is still much better than what you get with some other forms of depression. But even this type isn't good for you or anyone else.
Even though the patterns of all kinds of depression symptoms vary, you may still find them anywhere. There is no form of selection; anyone can be depressed, and when they do they can do stupid things, or do nothing at all. But you have a choice to be part of the people who allow depression to control them or part of those that effectively control depression.
Women have to work hard to keep their men, cook to feed the home, carry the baby in their bellies for nine months, and breast feed them after childbirth. They have to stay around to help the child handle Daddy's tough love, and all that; and somewhere in all these, they have to find time to be career women. Little wonder ladies get to experience more depression than men do!
Depression often comes in episodes, or crises, if you care to call it that. You cannot afford to leave it unattended though, because a single episode of major depression may sometimes last for up to eight or nine months. Some people, although rare enough, may even suffer from it perpetually.
Adolescents, when they suffer from depression, experience common symptoms like sadness or the blues. This mood naturally affects their overall cycles and they might complain of sleep disturbances and lack of energy. A young person experiencing this can always seek the opinion of an older person; otherwise, when you see them like this, you can choose to take action quickly to help them.
