Carrying out website design may seem to be simple process but many details have to be worked upon to give it the perfect look. Website design layout for different types of website differs, as their requirements and preferences vary. Here we would discuss basic design layout of a general website. A common website consists of many web pages altogether having links to each page yet having its own standing.

The most common elements of website design layout are- navigation menu, header, content and place under the footer allotted for links to your web pages that are visited less.

Elements of website design layout

Header is the first thing that any visitor gets to see when they land up on any website. Usually headers are images that cover the top most width of your web page and give an idea to the visitor about your website. The standard width size start from 600 pixels extending to the entire width of the web page. Header size can also range from 750-800 pixels, this width is preferred more by the visitors and has proved its effectiveness too. This part should contain the image that very well defines the ...
... intention of your website yet simple and appealing. Title of your website is also included in it.

In case your website contains multiple web pages, in order to facilitate the visitors' access to these pages navigation menus have to be installed in the website. The menu items are shown in a column form either to the right or left area of the web page. The navigation menu style of websites varies depending on their size. For example big websites have separate menu that guides you to another page, where customers would find another navigation menu leading to other additional pages. Whereas small website would have menu that gives link directly to the related web page, it means just a single navigation menu is there.

Websites can never be found in search results if they don't have optimized content. So focus on having quality content, prefer white background and black text. After allotting width area to the navigation menu, the remaining web page space is given to the text. The title of the website is on the top of the website having h1 header tag.

Footer is found right at the bottom of the web page giving a complete look to the website. It is much lesser in height when compared to the header however there are no set rules that determine the footer's height.
