Although we live in a world that is supposed to be equal opportunities there are still some boundaries when it comes to job types. We still think that girls will be ballerinas and that boys will be train drivers. This means that when a girl wants to break into an industry she isn’t traditionally supposed to or a guy wants to do a job that is supposed to be for girls, it can be hard – but not impossible!

One of the best ways to do this is to look at apprenticeships that are in your chosen industry. Apprentices are a great way of breaking into an industry, and often you can get paid while you do it. The great thing about this is that whether you are looking at male or female apprenticeships there are loads of options and choices open to you. This means that whatever you are looking for, there will be job choices to suit.

Of course an apprenticeship isn’t forever. By working on one of these schemes for a few years (the length varies) you are setting yourself up for a lifelong, secure and hopefully well paid career.
