Combining a few days relaxing in a casino and an over seas trip is a great way to see the world and all of its different casinos. Here is a guide to some of my favorite casinos around the world.

Before you decide to try and break the banks of Monte-Carlo, you should know that Monaco's casino is very exclusive. If you want to gamble here you have to have very deep pockets. Trying to sit down and gamble here you had better have at least $10,000 in your pockets.

Besides the fact that the minimums for some of the table games can be over $1,000 you will also have to remember to bring your tuxedo or they won't even let you thru the doors, OK, you do not really need a Tuxedo but proper attire is required and after 8PM a Jacket is required for all men. Do not try to get into the casino in sneakers and jeans it will not go over well and just trying can get you banned. There is a 10 Euro cover charge.

There are 10 casinos in Amsterdam but only one of them has a license and is regulated by the government. It will cost you about 10 Euro to get in and you have to dress nice, and again after 9PM a jacket is required for men. Before you go to the casino I highly recommend a trip to the red light district. On a Friday and Saturday night this area will be filled with tourists gawking at the scantily clad ladies in the red windows.

If you are so inclined to smoke pot I should inform you that the usage of pot is essentially legal in Amsterdam. You can go to shops called coffee shops, not to be confused with a café, and inside you can order a hot drink and a bag of grass which can be smoked openly in the shop. If you are going to smoke the grass you should be careful. The stuff they have here is very strong.

Maybe you are on a budget and are looking for a place where your dollar will go a little bit further. One time on a visit to Egypt I went to the only casino in the area. The casino is in the small town of Taba on the boarder with Israel.

There is not much of a night life in the area except for the bars and dance clubs of the few hotels. I highly recommend the Bedouin Night, each hotel offers their own version of this, but the basics are all the same. You relax in a Bedouin tent on the beach. A meal is served to you on a low table so you can eat while lying on your side or sitting on the floor. The food consists of Lamb, Cous Cous, fresh pita bread humus and salads common in the area. Naturally they also have traditional Bedouin music and belly dancing and is a great way to get a bit of a feel of the local culture and customs.

Then after that you can spend all night long in the casino trying your luck. I found the staff to be very friendly even if some of them do not speak very good English. All betting is done in dollars so make sure to keep some especially for the casino. The local bank will charge you outrageous fees to convert it.
