New York Tours known for guides in New York; as for its museums and galleries, the Museum of Metropolitan Art will be hosting some of the world’s greatest exhibitions and art. It is a special exhibition from October 2012 until September 2013 to commemorate the centennial of its own ‘Arms and Armour’ department. Founded by Dr. Bashford Dean in 1912, who had acted as a guest curator at the Metropolitan since 1904, the deparment was specially set up to document the wide cultural ephemera of American weaponry. Dean himself was a zoologist by training, and a Professor at Columbia University.
The exhbition is an absolute must for military history buffs, and provides a fascinating alternative for tourists looking for places to visit in New York. With newly refurbished display cases and lighting, visitors can view some of the rarest objects, books, manuscripts and photographs from the early 20th century that cover the esoteric and multifaceted career of Dr. Bashford Dean.
