Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent resident immigrants who are applying for visas usually have one major concern: how much they are likely to spend on Super Visa processing fees and other Super Visa requirements.

Applicants should know that the processing fees set by visa offices are charged on top of Super Visa insurance, which must be purchased separately. The latter is the biggest obstacle for most visa applicants from around the world.

Medical insurance Costs

The cost of the Super Visa Insurance depends upon the insurance policy chosen. There are many Canadian insurance companies that offer specialized policies for Super Visa applicants. It is best to choose a policy that, in addition to being affordable, comes with favorable terms such as:

1. A refund in the event that the visa application is denied,

2.“Trip breaks permitted” which means that the policy remains valid after each re-entry back into Canada,
...
... br /> 3. Adequate coverage for each type of emergency medical service.

Medical insurance must be paid in full when purchased, even before submitting an application to the visa office. Needless to say, it is important to start planning for a Super Visa application as early as possible since it could take years before the insurance is fully paid off.

As for the cost of insurance, the key point to keep in mind is that the price increases with age. The price may also go up if a client has a pre-existing medical condition. Here is a table of estimated cost by age group for a policy offering $100,000 in coverage:

AGE COST PER YEAR

40-55 $1,190

56-59 $1,515

60-64 $1,550

65-69 $1,825

70-71 $2,375

72-74 $2,650

75-81 $2,740

82-86 $4,015

87-90 $4,290

91-99 $9,010

These rates are estimates for insurance policies of applicants without pre-existing medical conditions.

If you’re wondering why the Canadian government is requiring $100,000 worth of medical insurance, it’s because regular medical costs in Canada can be very expensive. Hospitalization alone can be up to $3,000 per day. Transportation by helicopter and/or ambulance can easily run in excess of $10,000. As non-Canadian citizens, visiting parents and grandparents can not be given the same medical benefits as taxpayers and citizens of the country; thus the need for an insurance policy.

Application Processing Costs

At the time you submit your application documents for a temporary resident visa or TVR (this is also a prerequisite for Super Visa applications), you also must pay the application fee. The rates are as follows:

$75 – single entry visa (per head)

$150 – multiple entry visa (per head)

$400 – single entry or multiple entry visas (for a family)

These fees are actually the same as the rates for TVR applications. You should also keep in mind that these fees are non-refundable.

If you don't have a passport or valid travel document, you should consider the fees paid to obtain one to be an additional cost of your Super Visa application.

There will also be a cost for the medical examination. Instructions on where you can undergo this procedure will be given by the visa officer. Finally, you may incur additional expenses if you're called for an interview with a visa officer, especially if you don't live in the city where the Canadian visa office in your country is located.
