A journal is a newspaper, or a private journal which is referred to as a diary. Often many publications like magazines, scholarly journals or academic journals are called journals. In simple words, we can say that a journal is an accounting record where all business transactions are originally entered. It is used in the method of bookkeeping and the journal entries are recorded in chronological order. The National Library of India in Kolkata is one of the largest libraries in India by volume. It has many extremely rare books and journals in its collection. Journal Kolkata can be found in this library as it is also India’s sole repository library where all books, publications and official documents have been stored in perpetuity.

Few are held on paper, while most journals are available electronically. Many journals in English literature are available in India. Indian Literature is an English language literary journal published bimonthly by the Sahitya Academy, India’s National Academy of letters. It was first launched in 1957 as a half yearly journal in English. The main motive of the journal was to help the readers and the writers to know each other better in the various languages in India. Its second motive was to coordinate literary activities in the various Indian Languages, and third motive was to propagate information about Indian literature. Supplying information regarding Indian Literature was also another motive, which was used in this journal.

Indian Journal of Chemistry is bifurcated into two independent journals. It was separated in Section A and Section B, in 1976. Journal of chemistry, Sec A publishes papers in bio-inorganic chemistry, inorganic reaction mechanisms, thermodynamics, spectroscopy, theoretical and quantum chemistry, nuclear chemistry, catalysis and analytical chemistry, synthetic, and structural inorganic chemistry. Original journals are published as full papers and short notes. It is published as a rapid communication. It is not possible to publish all the received manuscripts due to pressing space limitations. Therefore, every endeavor is made to select for publication which are timely, original and significant.
