The acquisition of land is a burning issue which has rocked and created sensation in the society. To develop a country there needs setting up of industry, mining, infrastructure, information technology. To do this there needs land for setting up. Then it comes to acquisition and the acquisition of land for that creates controversy. Actually the controversy arises when there is forceful acquisition of agricultural land. To develop industry there always demand for sufficient amount of land area otherwise it is not possible to create infrastructure to develop a nation in manufacturing and service sector. But the forceful acquisition of agricultural land is not at all the solution and it cannot be. The loss of farming area is also a loss of fertile area and besides a loss of source of earning of many farmers and wage earners. Some recent acquisition in India, for example Odisha’s Posco project, West Bengal’s tata motor project etc, has shown some live example to us.

... country against it. It is nothing but a corporate greed for which the state is doing the nasty job in favor of the corporate giants. The agriculture is a base of an economy. Multinationals want to control the economy in their favor. For the development of multinational projects like mining, refinery, chemical companies the acquisition has made a deplorable situation to the local people of the area. To do in favor of the companies sometimes there is created special economic zone. It gives chance to make huge profit of the companies. But the companies are not interested to do a minimum expense to develop the adjoining area in favor of the local people. Rather the area becomes huge polluted area. For example, the mining areas where the air, soil, water are contaminated with highly toxic material drained out from many pumps outside. When the minerals are unearthed, there needs Trailer Mounted Concrete Pumps to reduce the mud, free the water outside of the mine etc. Then the contamination happens. It most of the cases destroys the ecology of the particular area. The bauxite mining in Odisha’s Nymgiri hills by Vedanta group has polluted the adjoining areas. The nuclear power plant of the Kodankulam in Tamil Nadu has made the displacement and will pollute the water bodies and the sea in future.


The displacements from land, losing of livelihood sources are the main concern to protest against these types of projects. It is said to all of us that development is for the doing benefits of all of the people. It will create jobs, uplift the living standard, and develop the area. But in reality there is totally inverse picture. The mining zones are the most suffering zone.


Technology is developing day by day. There is demand of industry in future. For that exploration of minerals and usage of pumps like Screed Machines are becoming necessary. But the basic question is it not possible without destroying the live and environment? Certainly possible, if the CSR is done in reality.
