The Redesigned Audi A4
The Redesigned Audi A4
Audi redesigned its compact, entry level A4 saloon and A4 Avant wagon in 2002 and made the pioneering multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) available. The Audi A4 saloon and A4 Avant come mated with a six-speed manual transmission, dual stage front airbags and a tire pressure monitor. All models in the lineup get either XM or Sirius Satellite Radio. The CVT delivers greater fuel efficiency than that of a traditional automatic transmission. There are three body styles and they come in 1.8T form with a turbocharged engine or in 3.0 guise with a V6.
The Cabriolet and Saloon are also available in FrontTrak front wheel drive and quattro all wheel drive. Xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights, a Parktronic rear parking-assistance system, a sunroof and a wind deflector for the convertible are available. The cabin for the A4 Cabriolet is spacious enough to have four people in it. Audi’s stereo system has a six CD changer and nine speakers. A four spoke leather wrapped steering wheel, height adjustable front seats with four way electric lumbar and heated power mirrors, automatic ...
... dual-zone climate control which works with sun and pressure sensors, navigation system and Parktronic parking assistance are also available.
The Audi A4 engine swap has been done by Audi by giving it a new turbocharged 1.8 litre four cylinder engine. A 3.0 litre V6 giving out 220 bhp. A five speed or six speed manual gearbox is mated as standard according to the model. The Audi A4 Saloon and A4 Avant get curtain-type airbags deployed from above the windows. The side-impact airbags for front are standard across the range and rear-seat side impact airbags are also available. An Electronic Stabilisation Program contains Brake Assist. The Audi A4 series has a lot to give to a driver but the highlight is its multitronic CVT.
Operating so delicately that the driver is doesn’t even notice it, the CVT does everything an automatic gearbox promises but without any gear changes. The A4’s transitory response is excellent, and because CVT operation is so delicate, most drivers should quickly get used to slow shifting. With the A4 Audi have preferred luxury over sportiness; the A4 delivers a top class experience. This car shows confident, strong and quick and agile performance but its not exciting enough. The A4 convertible is easy to ride and it moves around capably, but its steering isn’t the most agile. The seats are excellent: the seats are superb: pleasingly cushioned, masterfully supportive and comfortable.
