In fact, if you are moving to a new town, you should find a dentist and a doctor (or a naturopath, an ayervedic practitioner, or whoever you will entrust your health care to) before you make the move. It is true that being able to meet dentists and doctors is usually a desirable way to ascertain whether or not you care to see them, but the usual way that you do that is by actually making an appointment and visiting them, so you won't be missing out on much of the looking process. For example, you might research reviews of that particular dentist to see what kind of experience his/her patients have had. Remember to look at the overall rating and avoid honing in on only the very best or very worst reviews, although you should certainly take that into account.

Ultimately, if you find a dentist and any other health care practitioner you might desire to have in advance of arriving in your new city, you'll be better prepared in the event of an emergency. In fact, you might try to time it so that you get in your initial visit soon after arriving in town so that you are already an established patient, which will make it much easier to get in for a sick visit, should you need one.
