We know the term Memorandum of Understanding, in brief it is called MoU. When two parties sign for some future deal, this type of document is created. Normally big corporations or multinationals sign this. The MoU will create future trade and will provide profit for the entities. But it is very sad to find that this also bring some miseries for some common people. Yes, it is a dark thing of the signing. It may seem some odd like fact, but unfortunately it is true. Hope the following line would provide some lights about the fact. If we follow our daily newspapers we can find some happening in this respect all over the world.


There is a matter of signing a MoU between a big giant corporation and a state government of in a particular state of India, which has created a big people’s movement against this. The Posco project in Odisha has been mentioned in this respect. It has been more than seven years that common people are protesting against the project which was started after signing a MoU between the Posco, a South Korean giant steel co. and the Odisha Govt. ... of human rage. The project will damage the environment. It will make people landless. It will destroy the source of earning of the people. It will destroy agricultural land. The acquisition of two thousand acres land by the state government has made the people of the place really in deplorable condition. The ongoing mining project of the state has already created enough damage to the environment. Aluminum mining is the example of it. The huge use of peristaltic hose pumps is becoming necessary in the sites. But the usage has created contamination of toxic material in the environment. People are fearing also same in the Posco project. The environmentalist, activists are raising the voice against all the odds of the environmental damage. Villagers are not ready to accept any compensation. The project will hamper mostly the land and water. It is also seen, the giant construction like dam also creates same problem in common people.


The mining industries are booming. The equipments, tools, techniques are getting more advanced day by days to make the job easy for corporations. Peristaltic hose pumps, magnetic drive pumps, Concrete mixing machine etc, are some instances. Recently the mining companies are taking project under the banner of public private project. That is why there is this type of MoU. The state, Odisha is a much enriched state in respect of minerals. There are many corporations is doing mining there. Jindal, Vedanta, Tata are some handful giant names. But the mining is not doing benefit for the tribal and general people of there. When the companies are coming with MoU, it is disturbing the normalcy of the environment, livelihood of the common people. The fact is not only limited in a state or country. It has been world spread matter. The Amazon rainforests range is also in the grip of the corporate greed thanks to this type of signing. We can just pray but not expect that big project will be beneficial for all mankind.
