Windows 8 is a new OS coming with a new start screen and can be controlled with keyboard and mouse (desktops). The old start menu is substituted by tiles showcasing users’ content facilitating to be updated in real time.

The Windows 8 Launch is one of the biggest launches and is the new era of computing. It is designed to work across platforms such as tablets and factors, said Bhaskar Pramanik, Microsoft India Chairman to reporters.

Microsoft has partnered with Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, HCL, Asus, nearly 14 manufacturers and they put on 250 devices on sale on the latest Windows OS. The benefit is that these devices will be soon available in over 2500 stores in more than 100 cities in India.

The experts agree that even today in the desktop segment, Microsoft has a majority share, though its share has shrunk in the personal devices segment. This is due to the increase in devices such as tablets and Smartphones, where Apple and Google’s Android take the lead.

In fact, purchases done of Windows 7 PCs between the period June 2, 2012 and 31 January, 2013 can conveniently download Windows 8 Pro for Rs 699 as retail price estimation with Windows Upgrade Offer, said the company.

Microsoft is also helping its enterprise clients in shifting to the latest software version. The company also said, the Windows store will soon offer a plethora of local and global apps for download.

For a limited time you can free download Windows 8 and receive a product key free with the Windows 8 Media Pack, but you need to give your valid email address. On receiving the free product key, follow the instructions. However, it is not a forever use copy. This is only for a limited time trial.

Microsoft says it is for IT professionals, it does not restrict others from taking the disk image. You can download a 90 day trial that is coming in 32 and 64 bit version and start it.
