Get The Adrenaline Rushing With An Adventurous Peru Mountain Climb

The Andes mountain range is the second highest range in the world after the Himalayas. It runs right through Peru and provides a fantastic opportunity for lovers of Peru mountain climb. The Peruvian Andes not only has a high concentration of some very high-altitude peaks, it also has a mild climate almost the year round with a relatively lesser crowd of mountain climbers. It also lies within easy access of sites which are nevertheless still far away from hectic cities. It is no wonder that the Peruvian Andes acts like a magnet for mountain lovers across the world.
The best place to begin mountain climbing is from Huaraz which is the entry point for the Cordillera Blanca range boasting the highest peak, Huascaran standing at 6,768m in Peru. The Cordillera Blanca range has many more peaks above 5000m and 33 peaks above 6000m. The most popular trek in this area is the Santa Cruz trek which is done in 4 days although many other variations and add-ons can be adjusted. Plenty of tour companies will offer this activity in Huarez but it is advisable to settle for a reputed company instead of only looking at the expenses.
Four ...
... hours away from Huaraz by bus is the more isolated Cordillera Huayhuash which has seven peaks over 6000m and the highest amongst them is Yerupaja standing tall at 6,634m. This trip is extremely challenging one and demands the highest level of physical fitness and thorough acclimatization on the part of mountain climbers. It is a ten days trip and involves considerable ascents and descents. The trek starts and ends in Llamac.
Vallunaraju is the ideal beginner’s summit and is easily accessible from Huaraz. It is a good summit to include towards the end of the trip or to use it for additional acclimatization for the 6000m peaks.
In Arequipa, the snow-capped volcanoes of El Misti(5825) and Chachani(6070) are the most well-known climbs. The El Misti climb takes two days and no previous mountain climbing experience is needed although a skilled guide should be accompanying the climbers.
In the Cusco area, the peak of Salkantay at 5825m in the Cordilleras Vilcabamba mountain range and that of Ausangate (6384m) in the Cordilleras Vilcanota range is regularly climbed by some small groups of climbers every year. This mountain climbing has to be thoroughly planned and organized well in advance and only highly experienced mountain climbers should undertake this trip.
Pisco at 5752m is a moderate climb and even inexperienced climbers can undertake this trip. It is good practice for tackling the big summits for experienced climbers. There is also the Yanapaccha climb in the Llanganuco valley which is adjacent to Pisco but is not much frequented by climbers. It is not apt for first-time climbers as there are some steep areas but novice climbers who have some experience can do this climb without much difficulty.
Peru mountain climb should always be done under the supervision of qualified and highly experienced guides and the support staff should also be well-trained in medical, safety and rescue techniques.
