Renault Megane Sport Tourer – A Faster Estate With More Room
The Megane Sport Tourer is one of the best- looking estates available and now Renault has given it a major revamp. This follows the facelift of Grand Scenic and Twingo, to align these cars with the class leaders. When you see the new car it’s clear that the inspiration for the new 2012 style comes from Renault sport Megane. It has gloss back inserts and bumpers fixed with LED headlights. The GT model has extra badges and a plastic diffuser, but as a package the styling changes made by Renault make this new Megane ST look even sleeker and stylish than it did before.
These changes are not just limited to the exterior; the interior has been changed too. The GT line now has a sports steering wheel along with a low driving position which makes it more exciting then SEAT. The new GT comes equipped with gadgetry and technology. It has a very effective climate control, a built-in sat nav, Bluetooth and USB connections and parking sensors all over the car. The stereo switches are of a better quality than before. Although it not as long as the SEAT, it has ...
... a higher roof and a longer wheelbase, so there is good amount of knee and headroom for rear passengers.
The boot has been designed with a low lip that makes it much easier to carry heavy items. And even though it’s slightly shorter than the Exeo’s luggage bay, it’s deeper, so it can carry more bags. The Megane is very spacious inside. Although it is shorter than the SEAT but it has a longer wheelbase and the roof is higher. This means more room for rear passengers. The boot is deeper that means it can carry more bags and the Megane has a 1,600 litre boot capacity. There are three new engines available: a 1.5 litre diesel with 90g/km CO2 emissions, 1.2 litres small turbocharged and a 1.6 litre dCi engine.
This new 1.6 is replacing the old 1.9 litre diesel engine and standard stop-start and regenerative brakes make sure that it is also 20 percent more efficient. It only emits 104g/km of CO2 and claims 70.6mpg. The transmission is manual with a six-speed gearbox. It has a long throw; the shift action is pleasingly accurate. The Renault is more alive than its rival. Even though the £21,100 Dynamique is £505 cheaper than the Exeo but it still comes with plenty of equipment as standard. Renault offers 4+ packages on all its models, which gives four years of free servicing, roadside assistance and warranty.
