The In-depth Details Of Crb Checks And Enhanced Disclosures
The agency providing wider access to criminal records information through its disclosure service is known as Criminal Record Bureau (CRB). It is an executive agency with its headquarters at Liverpool. As we all know that nowadays it is difficult to identify the correct person for recruitment as it is not safe to trust anyone blindly. Therefore companies have took refuge of CRB checks that help in identifying the criminal record of the employee as well as make sure that he is free of any legal charges. This check ensures the safety of a business by performing the extensive research about candidate’s criminal record. In this way the employer will be able to make right decision to appoint a trust worthy employee. However this check is basically performed to ensure that the applicant won’t cause any mischief or harm to the reputation of company after he is appointed. Moreover, if a person possesses a criminal record like robbery or theft then all his details will be presented before the company.
CRB checks are only responsible for looking into the criminal record of a person. Their information cannot compel a company ...
... to appoint a person or discard him. It is the sole decision of the employer to whether consider the applicant or not. Their job is to only collect the details about a person and not to influence any of them to appoint someone. Through this method recruitment agencies are able to maintain their credibility by not appointing the person who is not clear of criminal charges. They make sure to appoint only those candidates who are free of any kind of legal charge. Although, it is not guaranteed that a person who is free of legal charges will not impose any threat to the company in future. Hence research conducted by CRB is up to the extent so that there are minimal chances of such problems in future after appointing the person.
The process adopted by CRB to investigate criminal record is known as disclosure. There are two types of disclosures provided by CRB:
*Standard disclosure
*Enhanced disclosure
Standard disclosures are meant for the jobs that involve lesser responsibility and require less contact with vulnerable people like children. On other hand enhanced disclosure deals with the investigation for jobs of higher responsibility like teaching, nursing, social work, doctors and midwives etc. Before performing the CRB check kind of job is also a matter of consideration in order to present the unbiased report about applicant.
