Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest National Park in the country, is located in Uttarakhand. Nanda Devi National Park and Valley of Flowers National Park are UNESCO World Heritage sites and popular tourist spots in Uttarakhand. The Himalayas in the Uttarakhand region is the home to tigers, leopards, snow leopards, bharals and a multitude of other endangered animals.

Uttarakhand has a close proximity with the Himalayas. This makes it a good destination for adventure tourists. There are a multitude of trekking spots in Uttarakhand. Other adventure sports offered to tourists here are rock climbing, hiking, and mountaineering.

Gangotri and Yamunotri are the places where holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna originate from.

How to Reach

Air: There are 2 airports in Uttarakhand, one each in Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport) and Pantnagar. The nearest airport that links to other parts of the country is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Flights to international destinations can also be boarded from Delhi.

Rail: The railway stations in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri connect Uttarakhand with the rest of country efficiently.

Road: There are 13 National Highways and many state highways that efficiently connect Uttarakhand’s cities and rural regions with the nearby states. Regular buses ply to major destinations within and outside the state. Cabs can also be hired to travel between cities.
