Desk research is a term that refers to the assembling of information on a particular subject that is already available in print or over the internet. It is also known as secondary research. Basically, desk research is sort out by those people who need a lot of data on a subject but are too tired to it themselves. For that, a person is employed to do work and it is termed as desk research. It is a low cost technique as compared to other types of research because data has to be assembled from pre-existing resources. If substantial amount of information if not there and a little more research is to be done, then search engines should be used. Search engines help us to find all the related matter in an organized form. Various sites which have the right stuff on a particular subject use SEO techniques in order to gain ranks in a search made for the same topic. In this way, those links which provide us the best matter are always on the top of the list of search results.
The second part is government published resources. Government publishes a lot of data related to social, financial and political subjects. Their data is always very meaningful and useful. Their data is an essential part of desk research. And the last part is customer desk research. It involves directly communication to a customer about the information.
