Uttar Pradesh has scores of architectural delights from the previous millennia with mostly archeological and mythological sites.
Uttar Pradesh is located in the northern part of India. Lucknow, the capital city of the state, is ranked as the most populous city in India and the fifth most populous in the world. India’s GDP receives a large contribution from Uttar Pradesh. Hindi is widely spoken in the state.
The state is bordered by many Indian states such as Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. Uttar Pradesh also shares international borders with countries such as Nepal towards the northern side. The state is said to be where Hinduism originated from and is also deeply related to Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism in many ways.

Exploring the State
The three World Heritage sites present in Uttar Pradesh are FatehpurSikri, Agra Fort and TajMahal. More than 71 million tourists visit Uttar Pradesh each year. TajMahal, which is one of the seven wonders in the world, is also present in the state in Agra. The city of Agra also houses the first ever 6D theatre in the world.
Varanasi is the place where Lord Krishna was born; the city is also considered to be one of the oldest cities in the world. The sacred city of Allahabad witnesses the confluence of The Ganga and Yamuna rivers. The KumbhMela festival, which is the largest congregation of human beings on earth, is also celebrated in the city. This festival is celebrated every 12 years and is considered to be a very auspicious event for the Hindus. Devotees from all over the country throng the state during this festival.
Getting There
The state has four important airports and 23 air strips. The Amausi International Airport located at Lucknow has flights to Riyadh, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat and some more cities in the Middle East; the place is also well connected Indian metros like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and New Delhi.
Tourists travelling from China,Europe, USA and Middle East countries can go to the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi.Uttar Pradesh is connected to the other Indian states via railroads. Rail routes in Uttar Pradesh are extensive and all the cities in the state are connected by trains to all parts of India.
