The dental school generally has total four academic years, which comprises of an intensive program unlike the ones found in any other medical schools.


You have to start the studies in the classroom along with the lab work (practical). The subjects covered in this course include clinical anatomy, microbiology, physiology and biochemistry. The initial years you need to cover a number of subjects related to clinical sciences that usually incorporates laboratory techniques. During the remaining two years, you would be supposed to treat dental patients in any of the certified clinic. In order to be a licensed dentist, you are supposed to clear the exam of NBDE (National Board Dental Examinations). Once you clear this exam you end up getting a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DSS), while the other schools award the equivalent degrees of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Once you complete your four year education, you are supposed to work at any dentist office to secure a tangible experience as family or general dentist.
