In times of danger, it is important for us to take care of our surroundings. We must especially be careful about our daily transports. Modes of transportation have been targeted by terrorist groups to transport hazardous material from one place to another. As trading takes place between countries, traders need to be very careful about their consignments so that no dangerous foreign object can travel from place to another.


Hazardous materials can be of various forms, solid, liquid and gaseous. Terrorism has engulfed the world in such a way that situations have become more and more complicated and uncertain. So, we have to take proper steps to prevent any sort of ‘accident’ that is in our hands. We must also be ready to encounter any sort of danger anywhere, anytime.


In order to handle and ship hazardous materials we have to comply with all the agency regulations. First we need to make sure that our shipments are free from any sort of danger. Trade compliance training is given to those who enroll for it. They are trained to identify dangerous materials that might have been sneaked in with the trade goods. These hazardous materials may or may not be life threatening but since we do not want a repetition of 9/11, we have to be more careful. The precautions that we can take should to be taken at the right time. The officials should be trained not just to identify hazardous materials but should know how to handle them.


For example, if they find traces of drugs in a consignment, they should check the entire consignment thoroughly before it is shipped. The shipment should be so thoroughly checked that even the slightest trace of drugs should be eliminated. The police should be contacted in case of drug peddling. Even alcohol can be a life threatening danger as it is inflammable.


Hazardous materials can be fatal or just plain illegal. The trainees are trained to recognize them and tackle them; if the degree of danger is too high then they should call on the experts instead of trying any heroics. The experts will know what to do with the hazardous materials. The trainees also have to pass an examination to qualify for a job.
