The 24hours Le Mans endurance race in France was very special this year as Audi had something special to show the masses. After the 2012 race finished Audi unveiled its new performance model, the Q5 TDI. This new SUV is based on the Audi Q5 but has more power, changes to its exterior, sportier interior design and concave truck wheels. Q5 becomes the first ever SUV from Audi to be powered by a diesel engine. Audi has used its winning formula of diesel engines which it successfully employed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, in this new performance model, the Q5 TDI.

The power train for this Q5 comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter V-6 diesel engine. Audi has also transferred its racing expertise over to the new car by utilizing technologies such as cylinder head cooling, high strength pistons, high performance piston pins and new intake camshaft timing. These technological advances accompanied with the new thermal management system, start-stop function, and oil system, help to achieve 7.2 liters of fuel consumption per 100 km. All of these improvements make this new car very fast with 0-100km/h time being achieved in just 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The upgraded 20-inch concave truck wheels will sit closer to the body due to a lowered suspension reducing the height by 30mm. The new SUV also gets a new rear spoiler, front bumper trim pieces, and brushed aluminum side mirrors to finish off the exterior transformation.

Inside, Audi keeps the racing pedigree of the Q5 and gives it new sports leather seats. A touch of luxury comes from aluminum foot pedals and door entry sills and new performance SUV gets special ‘S' badges throughout the interior. Buyers can also opt for a custom tailored interior. The 313 bhp Audi Q5 TDI with concave truck wheels, new exterior body work, all wheel drive and sporty interior will be available in early 2013 at a price of £43,015.
