Ford B MAX Has The Height Of An MPV And Style Of A Supermini
There is more to the Ford B-MAX than meets the eye, sure it looks fancy and has the pillar-less Easy Access doors, but it’s the way B-MAX drives and its practicality that makes it the class topper. The elimination of B-pillar makes the rear access as easy and comfortable as it can be. B-MAX is based on Ford Fiesta which makes the drive much responsive and comfortable than the rivals such as Honda Jazz or Meriva in almost the same price.
The B-MAX is an another example of the Ford’s bold Kinetic Design making its rivals look damp, thanks to the low-line roof long wheelbase. The rear doors are sliding but are well disguised to make it look like a conventional car. The cabin is similar to that of the Fiesta, hence stylish. The infotainment system is surrounded by plenty of buttons that make it easy to use. As there is no B-pillar the seat belts have been fitted into the seats in a way that enhance the overall interior style. The Ford B-MAX is not only more relaxing to drive than a Vauxhall Meriva or Honda Jazz but also it stars higher in the fun factor.
The ...
... steering is much responsive than you expect from a little MPV. It has an excellent road grip and gets much refined engines – the 1.0-litre petrol with EcoBoost and 1.6 TDCi diesel. The 1.0 litre petrol is the best choice as it gives the best balance of performance and economy thanks to its EcoBoost start-stop technology. There have been no reports of any reliability issues. The missing B-pillars don’t mean it compromises on the safety, It comes with a bunch of airbags, electric stability control and traction control. The doors make up for the missing pillars with extra strong frame making them a bit chunky. The driver enjoys an excellent front and back visibility.
The Ford B-MAX has a very spacious cabin, in fact it is the same as Vauxhall Meriva, but the way it is accessed makes it much more practical than any other car. The fact that there are no B-pillars means that getting in and out of adults and children is no difficult at all. The sliding doors make it easy to park in tighter spaces. The boot is very smartly designed with 300 litres of space which can be increased by folding the rear seats. A further boost can be given by folding the front passenger seat. All of this means the Ford B-MAX scores high in practicality. The 1.0-litre petrol, three cylinder Ecoboost engine the economy of over 50mpg. The 1.6 TDCi returns 70mpg with 104g/km of carbon emission, which is expensive to buy but keeps the running costs low.
