You do need a good card combination to raise a bet early in the game with so many other players around the table. Good combinations would be two Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks or tens or even an Ace King combination. After the flop, if you have pairs of cards that are 9 or higher or suited cards that in combination with the community cards could give you a straight or a flush, then you can call.

Just because you have paid the blind, though, doesn¡¯t mean you do have to stay in the game if you know that you do not have a fairly good hand. You will only be wasting your money making the bets on this hand.

Texas HoldEm is a game of skill and mistakes could be costly. Although having two suited cards in your hand is good, you have to look at how close they are together and calculate the odds of getting the additional cards you need. Being able to calculate the odds in a German poker game is a skill you need to learn along with the rules. Although it is perfectly acceptable to bluff in a game, you should not make a practice of it. The other players will soon catch on and call your bet. It is best to use this tactic sparingly and when your opponents least expect it.
