Enterprise Resource Planning and Enterprise System (ES) are two common terms used in business management. What is the difference between enterprise system and an ERP system? This is a common question asked by many of us. Let's define Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP first. You can define ERP as integration software which can integrate all functional departments of an organization. It can be used to integrate variety of integration business management fields like purchase, production, sales and inventory. Project managers who wish to track the overall performance of company are advised to use Enterprise System in combination with ERP system software. By using an Enterprise System with ERP software, consultants can easily monitor the business processes like supply, production and customer management.

Increased duration for ES implementation is one of the main differences between ERP software and Enterprise System software. Enterprise System will take more time for implementation than Enterprise Resource Planning. When compared to ERP, ES is well known for high ROI. ERP is implemented to increase the functional efficiency of business projects whereas an ES is assigned for a specific function. Lack of architecture is another main difference between an ES and an ERP system. An ERP is constructed according to the project needs, whereas ES do not need any architecture for its implementation. Project managers who wish to ease their work are advised to select both ERP and ES for their businesses.
