Utility is the first criterion of anything that is tagged with a cost. Nobody wants to buy something that is not very useful. Even the showpieces that we buy for our home or office serve a purpose. They decorate the place and make them look good. This is the most basic instance of how usability defines the worth of any and every item. The same rule applies to all sectors of life and various types of industries are no exceptions. Of course when it comes to industries, the magnitude of the utility of a substance takes up a new dimension. And technological applications play a big part there too. For example, the mining industry started out with the use of most basic handmade tools which helped man to search for valuable commodities under the ground. With technological advancements the utility of those tools were enhanced and gradually the mining industry evolved as one of the prime economic treasure troves of modern times. It would be wrong to say that only mining industry has experienced groundbreaking technological advancements. Since the last century science has made some jaw dropping discoveries and all these breakthroughs ...
... have revolutionized the working process in various industries. The oil industry is one of them.

This fact is probably best reflected in the development of high-tech pumping technology that is used today in the oil industry. Whether it is oil, paint or acid industry, all of them use drums to store the liquids. Now, there obviously is a requirement to transport these liquids from one place to the other. If these liquids are transported manually, the chances of spilling and wastage increase. Besides manual labor is both time consuming and a lot more expensive. The risks also get amplified if the work requires dealing with inflammable liquids. This is where the need of the hose pumps is felt the most. It must be mentioned here that these pumps must be handled in a proper way for the safety of both the workers and the factory itself. It has been noticed often that workers ignore or forget about cleaning the pump before using it and that is why, often the resultant chemical reactions hamper the quality of the liquid being transferred. Such ignorance can even result in damaging accidents. These pumps are mainly of two types. While one type is electric driven, the other type is manual. Two other important kinds of pumps used in this and other industries are helical rotor pumps and mag drive pumps.

Just like the drum pumps, the peristaltic pumps also have a number of benefits. They are considered to be the hygienic pumps by experts as their inner surfaces are smooth which makes it difficult for bacteria to adhere there. That is why these pumps are so popular in the food and beverage industry. Pumps are non shearing which means they do not beat up, cut, chop the materials that are being transferred through them. This makes it possible to transfer a wide variety of products through them. They are also easy to use, durable, low maintenance and energy efficient.
