In today’s fast paced world, almost every sector of every field of work has become highly mechanized. There is hardly any place where you would not see some type of machine or the other. Whether it is some high-tech telescope for watching the stars or a simple pencil cutter for sharpening your pencil – technology has actually revolutionized the way of human life. Almost every simple thing that we do in our mundane daily lives requires the use of a machine. This is especially true if you reflect on the heavy weight industries like construction, mining, dredging, etc. There was a time when these processes either called for a huge investment in terms of labor, time and money or did not exist in the books of human understanding at all. However, with many changes that dawned a new age in human civilizations because of the advancements in technology, these sectors of works also made their presence felt. Gradually, various limitations of these sectors also became prominent. It was clear that even though these industries are meant to make the human sustenance easier, there are some areas in these sectors that were desperately calling ...
... out for improvement and improvisation.

Everyone turned to technology in order to solve these problems. From the scientific breakthroughs that followed, many industries benefitted – but probably none did as much as the mining industry. Mining is a sector that started out with the use of crude instruments to break the surface of the earth in order to search for valuable things, and now it has transformed into an unbelievably complex, global economic treasure trove. Nobody can deny the obvious fact that the discovery of hose pumps had a great role to play in this transformation too. These pumps have also come a long way from being the simple machines that they were during the time of their invention. The basic purpose that these pumps serve includes moving viscous and, sometimes, abrasive slurries to the transfer of liquids which are in turn laden with comparatively large particulate matter. These pumps can serve a wide array of functions in this industry and their operation is mainly based on the alternating motions of contraction and relation of the hose. These motions force the material through the pump and into the discharge pipe. The diaphragm pumps, especially the air operated diaphragm pumps are also of much use in the mining industry.

However, it would be wrong to say that the diaphragm pumps are used only in the mining industry. They are in fact so useful that they are used in a wide range of industries like power generation, automotive, etc. and experts opine that these pumps have redefined the concept of efficiency. The reason why the air operated diaphragm pumps are preferred so much is that they give amazing speed control and have very low setback rates. They are highly durable and resilient regardless of what kind of liquid or slurry is getting pumped through them. Just like the peristaltic pumps, they also lower the expenses by quite a bit.
