Docmiami International Film Festival
The DocMiami International Film Festival is a celebration of documentary filmmaking at a global level. The festival showcases cutting edge documentary films during the day, and puts on outstanding music concerts in the evenings.
The fest will run from December 7-9, 2012 in Doral.
DocMiami is dedicated to showcasing the best that documentary filmmakers have to offer worldwide. We host documentary screenings and provide expert panel workshops at our event for our filmmakers and the community. In 2011, we were recognized by Productionhub.com as "Spiciest Film Festival" in their 2011 Festival planner and we honored none other than Multi-Grammy Winner Carlos Santana as our DocMiami "El Rey" Tito Puente, Contribution to the Arts recipient. In 2010, DocMiami was more than humbled to honor Latin Grammy Winner, Olga Guillot "The Queen of Bolero", with the very first “El Rey" Tito Puente Contribution to the Arts Award presented to her by Tito Puente Jr.
The festival brings together emerging documentary filmmakers, students’ grades 6 -12, as well as film and music enthusiasts. DocMiami’s music concerts benefit ...
... the non-profit, Brick by Brick for Tanzania, where performers such as: Melton Mustafa, Tito Puente, Jr., Prince Emmanuel Abiodun Aderele, Javier Batiz "The Godfather of Mexican Rhythm and Blues”, Fito de la Parra, Jamie Catto, Rich Ferguson, Luis Bofill and Band and Rock n' Roll Royalty featuring Eloy "Rali", have contributed their talents to assist school children in Tanzania whom are combating not only poverty but also a drought, hunger and the AIDS crisis.
