A wide variety of nuts exists, from household hardware versions to specialized industry-specific designs that are engineered to meet various technical standards. And Bolts is externally threaded, cylindrical fastener with a head at one end and a threaded blunt end at the other. The square section grips into the part being fixed preventing the bolt from turning when the nuts are tightened. A rib neck carriage bolt has several longitudinal ribs instead of the square to grip into a metal part being fixed.

An elevator bolt is a bolt similar to a carriage bolt expected the head is thin and flat. There are many variations. Some do not have a square base, but rather triangular section of the flat head are folded down to form fangs that cut into wood and hold it secure.

A stove bolt is a type of machine screw that has a round or flat head and is threaded to the head. They are usually made of low grade steel have a slot or Phillips drive and are used to join sheet metal parts using a hex or square nuts.
