Using consumer mailing lists, in fact, is similar to the concept of other marketing tactics used by entrepreneurs and business owners. Direct mailing, cold calls, among others, work in the same way email marketing works. However, due to advancements in technology and chances in the mindset of people, email marketing, thanks to the use of consumer mail lists, work better.
One of the oldest marketing strategies employed by businesses is the use of direct mailing. Direct mailing is the most similar to email marketing and the use of consumer mail lists, as both strategies involve the sending of marketing materials directly to potential consumers. Another common marketing strategy is cold calling, a process where one approaches a prospective customer through the telephone. This procedure is still very popular today, especially since this tactic is more aggressive than the others. However, it is also very costly. Also, a number of sales experts have concluded that cold calling is ineffective and outdated. Potential customers are now wary of cold calls, making them inefficient as a marketing strategy. On the other hand, using consumer email lists cannot be considered as outdated; after all, it is a result of advancements in technology. Using consumer email lists also cost considerably less compared to cold calling, which would require a business to set up a call center or contract an existing company to do the cold calls.
