Kerala, popularly known as God's Own Country, is one of the most visited tourist destination in India. Kerala is a state which boasts of 100% literacy, and the population here is healthy, laborious, determined and devoted to their day to day life.

This state constitutes just 1% of the land mass and is one of India's most beautiful Indian states. Kerala is blessed with natural beauty and is home to two national parks, ten wildlife sanctuaries and two bird sanctuaries. It was formed on 1 November 1956. Some of the very beautiful hill stations of India are found in this state; the popular ones are Munnar, Thekkady, Nelliampathy and Ponmudi.

Kerala is all about tranquil backwaters, beautiful hill stations, exotic wildlife, Ayurvedic health resorts, and fascinating forms of art, magical festivals, historical monuments, and delicious cuisine.
The major economy comes from fishing and coir industry. Kerala is also known as land of rivers and backwaters and the major tourist attraction is the 1,900km of palm fringed backwaters. To experience the natural beauty of Kerala tourists take a full day onboard journey through the backwaters. Winters are from December to February end, summer starts in February till May, and that’s when the monsoons begin.
Local People and Culture
Malayalam is the official language of Kerala. People of this state are known for their warm and friendly attitude which makes this a very hospitable tourist destination. Kerala is a very rural state and majority of the population lives in villages but people of Kerala are educated and highly cultured. People of Kerala have a rich culture and some of the very famous art forms of India like Kathakali and Theyyam come from this state. Kerala is known for its unique martial arts “Kalaripayattu”. The major festival celebrated in this state is Onam.
Getting There
Kerala can be easily reached from anywhere in India and abroad as it is well connected by road, air and rail. It has three international airports in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.
