One of the most essential components for every senor & instrument is data logger. It is an electronic device that records the data according to predefined needs over time & in relation to some specific location.

Modern data logging systems feature a digital processor & integrated DL computing interface that works with specific software tools for analyzing and collecting information. Having a central computer interface has several advantages. It is helpful for larger operations to deal with large information database from different loggers available at separate locations. Always keep in mind that the smaller, standalone units usually comes with tiny LCD screens as well a keypad for data entry purpose. These smaller units are not required for urgent responsive jobs.

There are four major types of data logging devices available presently:

1. Single input loggers (Low-cost & Compact)

2. Fixed multichannel loggers

These are basically mounted units, required for collection of assorted types of data from a single location. The most common example is definitely RH, leak detection, and pressure reading logging system in manufacturing plants.

3. Handheld multichannel loggers

These are portable units. The most common example can be field data acquisition logging devices for checking weather conditions.

4. Modular data loggers

These are special configurable logging units that can be easily plugged into some existing system for customized solutions. These loggers are often considered to be highly flexible. They are built with absolute scalability & easy system integration. The most common example can be that of a programmable logic controller that ensures sounding an alarm when overheating takes place.
