It is quiet common for us all to forget some or the other things on a daily basis. There are times when we may forget some things like our neighbor’s name or we may forget when we have to buy some items from the grocery store. We think that it’s just a normal part of the ageing process. But if you think that it is something more than being normal, then you need to visit the doctor and speak out your concerns. There are a lot of conditions that are in the treatable range and it may amount to periodic memory lapses.
When we hear about the word Dementia then we think that it is Alzheimer’s disease. It is known to be the underlying cause between 60 and 80% of all the dementia cases but there are other conditions as well. It is important that you should know about the different types and causes of this illness and its mode of treatment may vary between various diseases. Then there is the vascular dementia that is the second form of this disease. This is caused due to the poor blood flow to the brain. It deprives the brain cells of the basic nutrients and oxygen. Vascular dementia can be caused due to a number of Mental Illness Symptoms like narrow blood vessels which includes stroke, diabetes and hypertension.
At times Vascular Dementia can be caused due to more than one health condition and mixed dementia is caused due to Alzheimer’s and some form of vascular disease. This disease is at times called Lewy Body disease and it is considered by unusual protein deposits that are called Lewy bodies. They are settled in the nerve cells of the brain stem. It distracts the capability of the brain to function in a regular manner and it also damages the reasoning and the behavior pattern.It can also cause some amount of vibrations and is most often related with Parkinson’s disease and Dementia. This form of disease is not revocable and it also does not have a treatment!
Dementia is a form of disease that is chronic and a progressive form of neurological condition and it may affect the later stages of the cognitive functioning. It is not possible that all patients who are suffering from Parkinson’s disease may develop dementia. There are some Mental Illness Symptoms that may include tremors, muscle stiffness and speech problems. The support groups for dementia may support the patients with better treatment and care.
