The Gift: Makeover Of The Room & Bath!
Last weekend my brother was coming home from Canada after completing his studies! So, we decided to welcome him in a different style and way. Usually people go for welcome parties and surprises but we decided to do up his room in a way that totally cheers him up and gives him a comfortable crash pad seeing which he feels welcomed and excited to be returning home.
Isn’t gifting somebody a nice and beautiful room decor the best way to welcome the person? It sure is a unique way to welcome someone, you would agree. The surprise parties and the flowers are now passe! So, we decided to gift my brother something innovative and something that he is able to use instead of something that’s immaterial!
Here’s how we got down to creating his room-
We threw away all the old stuff in the room. We got rid of the old bed, the old table and the old racks etc. The old bed was anyway a bunk bed so we had to do away with it! So we brought in a bed that was a multi-purpose item; the bed could be used as a bed at night and as a sofa during the day time. We threw the age old chair and brought in some bean bags that just raised ...
... the contemporary quotient of the room! We got some trendy gloss laminate countertops for storing my brother’s books, CDs and DVDs too! The tables could never compete with the countertops, just to add. Countertops are easy to maintain and totally durable so we didn’t mind extending a bit on our budget since we know that we didn’t have to go over furnishing the room anytime soon!
We added colors into the room- All of us agreed to one point that colors will totally lift the room’s spirit and therefore, we just brought in the best of curtains in the best of patterns and colors. Along with the curtains, we added color through furnishing that we got from the best of laminate manufacturers. We also went ahead with the colored cushions, pillow covers, seats etc. We just gave the room a complete new look with fresh colors and hues.
We revamped the bathroom- Along with the room, we also re-did the bathroom that’s attached to the room. We just did away with the old countertops and installed some new colored composite laminate in the bathroom area along with the new fittings. We got a spa tub in the bathroom and created more space in the bathroom!
