Many people are unfortunately not sufficiently aware of just how important it is to maintain a certain balance in the air that we breathe. Many a times, we tend to simply switch on the exhaust fan, when we feel that the air is too heavy or if there is a strong odour or smoke in the house or the kitchen. The exhaust fan dutifully pushes the air that is present inside the house out and thus, rids the house of pungent odors or smoke. However, it is plain physics that if too much of air is pushed out and is not replaced at the same rate, it will lead to the creation of a negative pressure in the immediate surroundings. This needs to be dealt with on an immediate basis for two reasons. First of all, this negative pressure will usher in a whoosh of air every time you open a door or a window in an attempt to balance the air pressure. Secondly, there are chances that due to the negative air pressure that is being built up in your house, your fan will decide on pulling up make up air that you had not planned on, namely, the fireplace chimney or wood fireplace. You obviously do not want either or that happening!

Thus, for these ...
... reasons, a good and efficient make up air system needs to be in place at all times. There is always a natural relationship between the amount of air going in and coming out. This phenomenon especially peaks in winter, when the exhaust fan manages to push out enough air but as the windows and doors are usually sealed, an unbalanced atmosphere of air makes a negative pressure come up. This reduces the quality of air that you breathe.

Many people often also tend to simply install heat recovery ventilators or energy recovery ventilators, which are in fact devices that are not make up air devices. People wrongly think that these devices can replace make up air devices but it is not so. These are devices that balance ventilation and so, while they may remove dust and smells, they are actually not providing you with any new air to breathe as they are not replacing your air. So, always opt for a good system that provides you make up air. Switch to CCB Innovations for the best make up air systems and see the difference for yourself!
