For many people getting a good salary from their career is actually secondary to job satisfaction. Some people even choose to take a salary cut for increased satisfaction in doing a job they like better. However, when it comes to choosing a career such as an orthopaedic surgeon, you are likely to get the best of both worlds.

Not only are surgeons extremely well paid in most cases, but they have the thrill and satisfaction of helping individuals who suffer pain and disability from injury or disease to get back on their feet and be able to live a better quality of life. This is especially true in joint replacement surgery. Such processes are extremely complex and must be done with great care for the best result. But when their patients are better and back on their feet surgeons can find great satisfaction that it was through their skills that those people could regain their lives.

Some people suffer through years of pain and the inability to move freely before they end up in the operating theatre. Often when one joint is affected the whole body suffers as the other joints must work harder ...
... to compensate. Muscles, sinew and tendons are all affected adversely by the extra work and pressure on the good joint.

It is quite common that the good joint then begins to fail due to the extra work it must do. This is often when the patient seeks medical treatment and undergoes surgery or some other form of operation, depending on which joint is affected. Such patients are often in the older age bracket which makes their recovery even longer and more difficult.

Hip replacement surgery is especially harder to recover from for older patients as the hips are such a load-bearing joint in the body. Almost every movement is affected by the hips as well as your balance and walking. But many people who undergo this kind of surgery and recover from it find that they have a new lease on life as they can now walk without pain for the first time in many years.

As the population ages there will be even more need for surgeons to perform these kinds of operations. Therefore choosing this type of career is a good decision. You will never be out of work and can also visit other countries to offer your services. Job satisfaction and the opportunity to advance and travel in your career are looked on with favour by many who are seeking a good career.
