Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, is situated on the east bank of the river Hooghly. Kolkata is referred as the 'Commercial capital of the East India'.
Kolkata was the former capital of India during the British rule. The earlier name of the city was Calcutta and the city has a very old history of more than 2000 years. The city is home to many palaces, museums and temples. The main language spoken here is Bengali.
Job Charnock, an administrator of the English East India Company, was the founder of Kolkata. Kolkata is a fast growing city with many modern developments. Kolkata has many educational institutions, multiplexes, flyovers and other offices. The first metro rail of the country was constructed in Kolkata. Here we can find hand-pulled rickshaws and trams. Kolkata is the birthplace of many eminent personalities like Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and many others. Delhi, the capital of India, has a rich culture and overwhelming history. Situated on the banks of River Yamuna, Delhi is designed by a British architect, Edwin Lutyens. Delhi is a perfect combination of culture, tradition, power and politics. Delhi can be reached by all modes of transport. We can roam around by buses and metros in Delhi. Akshardham Temple is a new temple dedicated to Swaminarayan in Delhi. Delhi offers several shopping options like Sarojini Nagar Market, Lajpat Nagar Market and Karol Bagh.
Delhi Airport connects Kolkata by flights. Several economical flights fly between the two cities which are affordable.
Several trains connect the two stations in Delhi to Kolkata which take almost 20 hours to finish the journey. Some trains like Kalka Mail, New Delhi Howrah Express, Toofan Express and Howrah Duronto Express reach Kolkata at the two stations such as Sealdah and Howrah.
Bus is not an option to travel from Delhi to Kolkata as Kolkata is situated more than 1000 km away from Delhi.
Taxis charge Rs. 27,900/- to reach Delhi to Kolkata. This cab is for four people. For seven people it costs Rs. 39,500/- for a round trip.
If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 20 hours 10 minutes to cover the distance of 1481 km depending upon the vehicle.
There are around 217 accommodation facilities available for the guests in Kolkata. These include luxury hotels, hostels, medium luxury hotels, resorts, and budget hotels.
