How To Clean Silver Jewellery
Silver jewellery is very beautiful and always looks very good on certain outfits. But in time it will look very worn out and tarnished from wear. To restore the looks of our silver jewellery you will need to follow a certain cleaning technique.
In this article we'll discuss some easy cleaning recipes for silver items that are approved by cleaners in Sydney and will return their shine.
First cleaning method we're going to use is the salt and foil one. For this you'll need some salt, thin aluminium foil, a soft cloth, hot water and bowl that can hold your silver items. First place the aluminium foil on the bottom of the bowl. Arrange it in a way that it covers the whole bottom. Next step is to pour the hot water inside the bowl. Add 2-3 tablespoons of salt on the water and stir it, so it can dissolve. Submerge the jewellery in the bowl and start moving the bowl gently. The movement will help the salty water clean your silver items. Leave the jewellery to soak for 15 minutes in the solution. Take out the items from the bowl and rinse them with plain water. Be sure ...
... to dry them with a towel.
For the next cleaning recipe we'll use toothpaste. It's remarkably effective against tarnish on silver items. For the cleaning recipe you'll need a small bowl, some water, an old toothbrush and regular white toothpaste. Take the cloth and first give the jewellery a good wipe with it. This will remove loose dust and dirt from it. Apply some toothpaste on the jewellery or first pour it into a bowl and dip the jewellery in the paste. Take the cloth or an old toothbrush rub the paste into the jewellery. Rinse the item with clean water and dry it with a towel. Buff the jewellery with another cloth.
The final recipe is with baking soda. Make a paste from baking soda and water. To achieve it you'll need to combine one part water to one part baking soda in a bowl. Take a sponge and dip it into the cleaning solution. Apply the paste on the silver item and leave it to sit for a couple of hours. Afterwards, just rinse the paste from the silver item with hot water and dry it with a towel.
I hope that these recipes work for you and the tarnish will be forever gone from your silver jewellery. And remember that if you are not a fan of cleaning chores and you live in Australia, you can always check out the guys offering house cleaning in Sydney.
