Andhra Pradesh is sectioned into the Telangana, Southern Coast, Northern Coast and Rayalaseema. The important cities in the state are Warangal, Guntur, Nellore, Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Chittoor, Anantapur, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Vishakhapatanam.
The state is popularly known as the “rice bowl of India”. Andhra Pradesh was awarded statehood on the 1 November 1956.

Exploring the State
The Araku Valley in the state is a picturesque tourist attraction in the state. The place has a lush green landscape with clear streams flowing throwing to it. Eastern Ghats and the Borra caves are located in Andhra Pradesh. These caves have stalactite and stalagmite formations in the state that are a nearly a million years old. The Belum caves are the second largest caves in India and lie in the Kurnool district. Sriharikota is home to India’s sole satellite launching centre.
Tourists can also visit many pilgrimage sites located in the state including Puttaparthi, which was the home to Sri SathyaSai Baba; Srisailam, home to the JyothirLinga Temples; Tirupati, which houses the famous Balaji Temple and witnesses huge number of visitors from across the world; and Bhadrachalam, which is a temple of Sri Rama on the banks of the river Godavari.
The Char Minar is one of the most beautiful monuments in Hyderabad. The term “Char Minar” literally means four towers. Char Minar was built by the fifth ruler of QutbShahi dynasty known as Sultan Muhammad QuliQutb Shah. It was built in 1591 AD.
Hyderabad is also home to HussainSagar Lake, which is the right spot for families to visit. Other places within the city that Lumbini gardens, Necklace road, Ramoji Film City and more.
Getting There
The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is located in Hyderabad and is the largest in the state. It has flights to many major international cities like Sharjah, London, Chicago, Kuwait, Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Singapore and Bangkok.
All the major Indian cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata are connected to the airport.
