About Ice Hockey And Olympic Games
We are not sure that we can offer a definite answer about ice hockey's history. But people always think that hockey originates in England and then it spreads into North America. In the early days, people who lived in the England's military depot in Canada liked this sport very much. In 1870s, students in McGill University in Canada began to organize the hockey game. They made some related regulations and these regulations were called "McGill Regulation". In order to adjust to the regulation, now people replace gum-elastic ball with the hockey we use today. In addition, every team has 9 members. The Amateur Hockey Association of Canada was created in Montreal in 1885. It is the first nationwide hockey institution in the world. The organization made a rule that the members were decreased into 7. At the same year, National Hockey League was established in Lake Ontario. It is composed of four teams.

Many giant stars participated in the Olympic Winter Games to play ice hockey. So hockey experienced a huge progress and development. Women could participate in the hockey game in the Winter Olympics in 1998. That is Nagano Winter Olympics.
