Entertain Kids During Flight Delays & Layovers

Sometimes the best prepared travel plans that include the purchase of cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms get disrupted by unanticipated flight delays or extended layovers at airports.

Savvy travelers do not want their kids watching all the in flight entertainment that was prepared at home prior to take off. The following are suggestions by Conde Nast Traveler as to how to keep kids entertained while they wait to takeoff at the airport:

• Use excess time at the airport to purchase snacks and milk which is often not available on domestic flights.

• Find an empty gate area and encourage your kids to play games that involve jumping and racing. Any activity that helps tire them out on the land can make the flight go by much smoother.

• Suggest a scavenger hunt. You don’t really have to be familiar with the airport. Just identify various signs throughout the airport that they have to find.
