Avoid Potential Car Problems
Accidents happen, often spontaneously and without warning; and of course they do, otherwise they could hardly be called accidents. And it's very true that they can be blameless and unattributed to either of the involved party. But nobody lies accidents, at least bad ones where no lesson is learned. So the best thing to do, the best attitude to adopt, is a progressive one. A progressive attitude is when someone sets out with the mindset to do things in the best way possible. This may sound easy, but it takes a lot of foresight and optimism to think and behave in this mode. Most importantly, this mode of thought is best applied in the field of car maintenance and driving. In no other day to day routine task is aggression, irresponsibility, and apathy to blame.
While it may prove to be of great difficulty for some people to adopt a progressive attitude toward driving on the road, they should at least be mindful of their own vehicle, if not for others' on the road. When a person does not maintain or properly take care of their vehicle, then it poses the risk of not only malfunctioning on the road, but also harming the vehicles ...
... around it.
This can and will lead to liabilities and blame. For example, if an accident, say a rear end collision or a swerve out the lane, is indirectly caused by an improperly maintained tire or a blown out engine, then that can and will be used against the driver in court. This may lead to an even greater fine, potentially one for negligence in their inaction for maintaining and operating their vehicle under safe conditions. Such negligence could easily be averted with routine maintenance like a monthly oil change or an occasional tune up.
On a broader note, vehicle owners should learn to maintain these things on their own. This skill, this knowhow, of how to properly maintain and operate your vehicle, can prove to be a real life saver. And in the long run, it will also save a lot of money. Because by independently maintaining the vehicle, all other costs are brought down to minimum; costs like oil changes, which can easily be done in your own garage. It make take some getting used to, but all it requires is the modesty to dirty up your hands.
It is also a safe practice to know, instinctively and without effort, how your car operates. Thus, one can know when it begins to run differently, when something feels off kilter. Some of the worst and costliest accidents and misfortunes can be averted well before they start. For example, avoid having to replace your engine (a very, very costly move) by maintaining a steady oil level, or by checking the drive belts from time to time. Because in this age of computers and automation, it is a surprising feat that most people avoid thinking about their automobiles altogether, and wind up with more than they bargained for.
