A microwave convection oven is now one of the more necessary appliances in the standard home kitchen. There was a time when a convection microwave was an item that was considered more luxurious and high-end, and only serious cooks would purchase one. Since then, prices have fallen and the wonderful microwave convection oven has become a more commonplace appliance.

It can be tricky to figure out which convection microwave is best suited to one’s requirements. There are many such convection microwaves available from all kinds of brands, and there are types according to usage, size, and particular features. One needs to know exactly what kind of needs as well as limiting restraints they have before trying to find a convection microwave that would fit the bill.

Things To Consider When Picking The Right Microwave Convection Oven

1. Budget: A primary concern for many would be the price, so it is important to have your budget in mind when you set out to explore the microwave convection oven options.

2. Size: Convection microwaves are generally larger than ordinary microwaves, so one has to have ...
... ample space. Figure out if you have enough counter space to accommodate the oven; alternatively you can purchase a built-in model.

3. Family size: The size of the convection microwave is also dependent on how many people will be fed using the oven. Since these types of microwaves are geared more towards cooking meals than simple heating and defrosting, the more family members you will be cooking for, the larger microwave convection oven you will need. General guidelines are like this:

- 0.5-0.8 cubic feet: 1 individual
- 0.9-1.3 cubic feet: 2 individuals
- 1.4-1.6 cubic feet: 3 individuals
- 1.8-2.0 cubic feet: 4 individuals

Indian families are often larger in size (due to joint families) and may require larger models.

4. Safety: A microwave convection oven is a safe appliance, but it must be used carefully according to manufacturer's instructions to prevent hazardous situations. Families with children would do well to choose microwaves that have a plastic exterior that doesn’t heat up and hurt children’s hands. Also, convection microwave units that have an auto-off feature are very useful when being used by kids to prevent overheating of food or any accident; children can then use such a safe oven unsupervised as well.

5. Cleaning: Stainless steel convection microwave units are easy to clean; those made of dark plastic will hide stains and are good for families with small children where messes are inevitable.

6. Power: Higher power microwaves cook faster; most people do well with a medium power range that caters to most recipe requirements (around 700W-1000W).

While picking the microwave convection oven that is right for you, take note of any other features that you want like a turntable, temperature sensor, one-button cooking, moisture sensor, or calorie counting. Manufacturers like Panasonic have models containing all necessary features and are worth checking out before you purchase the convection microwave that you set your heart on.
