Buying a television is not a hard task. Most people buy a TV without thinking twice about it. They see an ad and the price seems right and the company feels legit, so they go to the shop, ask a couple of questions, see if it looks good, and purchase it without further ado. However, it is important to know there is more to buying a television than the way it is portrayed in the ads. Here are some tips for all those that are going to be buying a TV.

1. Space for the TV

Many a times a customer purchases the television without realizing that the place they have in mind to put the TV on is not enough, and so they have to go back and return it. So while choosing your TV keep in mind the measurements and where it will be placed in your home –and if there is enough space to place it whether it is on your stand, your entertainment center, or on your wall. Remember however, to measure just beyond the measurements of the TV to fit in cables and wiring cases etc.

2. The kind of Viewing Spot

Everyone wants a bigger screen for their movies. But it is important to note that the bigger your TV size ...
... is –be it a plasma screen, or an LCD –the larger the gap should be between you and the TV. This is so you can manage to enjoy what you’re watching. The optimal distance between you and the screen differs in different cases. For example if you’re watching a high definition television video, or an analog television –both will have a different optimal distance value.

So it is important to keep in mind the kind of viewing spot you have for your television before buying one. It will determine important factors like how large the room is and if your TV can be placed within the optimal range in that room, and also if the spot allows sufficient light for the size of your screen.

3. Size of the Vehicle

One of the most important things to consider is the size of one’s vehicle, which is easily overlooked. If you buy a TV and delivery isn’t really an option –if it’s not available or you don’t want to pay the extra cost –keep in mind the size of your vehicle and if it is large enough to carry your TV. If you buy a 37 inch LCD and your car cannot fit it in, then you will have a major problem.

4. Quality of the Picture

Picture quality is essential, as different models have different quality of showing pictures on the screen. It is important to check for the darkness of the screen –if it is darker it is bound to have good picture quality. It is also important to remember, that even apart from LCD or Plasma screens, the flatter your screen is the better it is for you, as you get less glare.

Most of these tips are for people who don’t know much about televisions but want to know before purchasing one. But for those who are well aware of what they want, and have specific requirements, it is always better to ask the salesman of the shop you’re visiting to get a better idea of what you’re buying. Most television stores such as Panasonic have excellent staff that helps in the decision making.
